Apartments and houses for sale in Geneva

Buying in Geneva means investing in a structurally tight residential market, between the historic old town and sought-after districts like Eaux-Vives or Champel. Each district has its own character and its own, often international, buyer profile.

An international city on the shores of Lake Geneva, Geneva hosts the European headquarters of the United Nations as well as a great many international organisations, a status that shapes its entire residential economy. The international airport, Cornavin station (the city’s main international rail gateway) and a dense diplomatic network continually draw a mobile, often expatriate population in search of quality housing, whether for a few years or as a long-term investment.

An old town between lake and Rhône

The historic centre, perched on the hill between the lake and the Rhône, has kept its old cobbled lanes, St Pierre Cathedral and grand townhouses. Around it, the city spreads into districts with distinct identities: lively, lakeside Eaux-Vives, or the leafier, more residential Champel, rank among the most sought-after areas. Their housing stock mixes Belle Époque buildings, 1960s and 1970s apartment blocks and a handful of rarer contemporary developments.

A structurally tight market

The international presence, combined with a housing supply limited by the canton’s small size and tight border with France, keeps a persistent gap between demand and availability: quality properties, whether to rent or buy, move fast, and a well-prepared application makes a real difference. Our figures, district by district and updated with every edition, are gathered on our price-per-square-metre page.

LCR Immo, an agency based in Nyon since 2015, works in Geneva as it does across French-speaking Switzerland and the neighbouring French border area: valuation, careful staging and full support, for renting as well as for buying.
